This super healthy dish called round gourd in English. This is popular in India, and it comes in summer season. A Punjabi style Tinda Sabzi is a flavorful side dish which is perfect for side dish in dinner and lunch. This is very quick and simple dish. I cook this with some basic spices to give a simple and healthy taste. It is available in summer.
Many people don't like tinda but I m not a that person who turns my nose up at the sight of Tinda because I love to eat green veggies. Even you can enjoy this with paratha or roti. It just a comfort food for me.
There are many variations to cook tinde even at my home my mother cooks this veggie in different style. she cooks stuffed tinde, tinde with curry, dried masala tinde and tinde kofte.
This green veggie has been well-regarded for its significant medicinal value since ancient times and is widely documented in Ayurvedic texts. This light summer veggie is superfood and has numerous health benefits. Tinda Consists of 94 of water. Tinda mild in flavor and soothing for the digestive system. It contains antioxidants like carotenoids and many anti-inflammatory agents, which effectively control blood pressure, heart disease and stroke. It is also to reduce the risk of cancer formation.
Ingredients
- 500 gm tinde
- 1 large chopped onion
- 5-6 chopped garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 glass of water
- Salt to taste
- Oil to cook
Recipe
- First peel and wash the tinde and cut into pieces and if some of them have hard seeds then remove and discard, then put the oil on the pan.
- Add cumin seeds and crack them.
- Now add chopped garlic and saute.
- Then add chopped onion and cook till golden fry.
- Now add tinde and fry for some time.
- Then add all the spices like coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt then give a nice mix.
- Please pour half glass of water so that spices coat tinde well and cover the lid and cook for some time but make sure keep stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle coriander leaves to give freshness.
- Serve it.

Advice
- The flame should be low while cooking the tinde.
- You can adjust the water according to your need.
- Remove the seeds if it's hard.
- Make sure tinde should not be bitter.
