Jeera aloo, a flavorful and delicious north Indian side dish made with some basic spices. It is served in most Indian restaurant in a north Indian thali. There are a few different types it is made. Usually, jeera aloo is made very simple without the addition of a lot of spices. But my version does use them for a burst of flavors because it cooked with some crunch.
This is all time my favorite dish. U can pack in a lunch box for your kids as well because potatoes are most favorite for kids. Even you can take this while your long journey if you prefer only homemade food. It is one of those dishes which you can make and be sure that everyone is going to eat it and the best part is that it's so easy to cook.
Potatoes are a decent source of fiber, which can help you feel full longer. Fiber also can help prevent heart disease by keeping your cholesterol and blood sugar levels in check. even Potatoes are also rich in antioxidants that prevent diseases and vitamins that help your body function properly. It prevents lower blood pressure, as long as you are not deep frying it or topping or pairing it with food high in saturated fat. Even it is good for skin. It has multiple health benefits.
It is very simple yet tasty dish. Please guys try this in my way, you will like very much.
Ingredients
- 6-7 boiled potato
- 1 green chili
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 2 tsp coriander seeds
- 2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 pinch hing
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1tsp kashmiri red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil to cook
Recipe
- First cut the boiled potatoes into dices and keep aside. Then take a pan add fennel seeds and coriander seeds for dry roast till get aroma.
- Now add oil on the pan and after heating the oil add hing and cumin seeds to give a beautiful aroma and taste.
- Then add crushed roasted masala.
- Put chopped green chili and give a nice mix. If you have kids at home so you can skip this.
- Now add kashmiri red chili powder and salt and give a nice mix.
- Next add diced potatoes and toss them. Do not over mix otherwise they may turn mushy.
- Finally, after cook the potato sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve it.
- You can use more spices to make the dish spicy.
- Do not boil the potatoes over because it could be must.
- While cooking the recipe mix gently so that potatoes do not break.
- You can choose the quantity according to your choice.
- If you want so you can add kasuri methi.
